Create A Dynamics NAV (Multi-Tenant SQL Server) Data Source
This information applies to Jet Reports2015 Update 1 and higher
Overview
Jet Reports supports direct connections to multi-tenant environments for Dynamics NAV.
Multi-Tenancy
Dynamics NAV 2013 and higher support multi-tenancy (where a single instance of the software runs on a server, serving multiple tenants).
Jet Administration Console
If your organization uses the Jet Service Tier to provide centralized data source settings to the Jet Excel add-in and/or the Jet Hub, you can use the Jet Administration Console to configure a connection to a multi-tenant NAV install. There are two options - depending upon where you NAV data resides.
Where is your data?
-
Same Domain
If you NAV data is located on a server which is on the same network domain as your installation of Jet Reports, you can create a new data source for:
Dynamics NAV 2013 - 2018 Direct SQL Server Multitenant
Click OK.
In the Authentication section, you'll need to confirm which user account will be used to access both the Application and the Tenant.
In addition to the application server setting in the Connection section, configure the correct Server , Database , and Company for the specific tenant you want this data source to access.
-
Different Domain
If you NAV data is located on a server which is on a different network domain than your installation of Jet Reports and your system administrator has created a jet Report Data Server ("JRDS"), you can define a data source for:
Dynamics NAV 2013 - 2018 Remote Data Service
The JRDS is already configured to connect to a specific NAV Tenant. You will just have to specify the connection and authentication information provided to you by your system administrator - then you're done
