Error: Proxy Authentication Required or Activation Failed

Overview

When trying to activate Jet Reports or the Jet Data Manager, you get one of the following error messages:

Activation Failed.  The following error was reported: The underlying connection was closed: Could not establish trust relationship for the SSL/TLS secure channel.

Activation Failed. The following error was reported: The remote name could not be resolved: 'activation.jetreports.com

The remote server returned an unexpected response: (407). Proxy Authentication Required.

There was no endpoint listening at http://selfservice.cloudapp.net/WebServer.svc that could accept the message. This is often caused by an incorrect address or SOAP action. See InnerException, if present, for more details.

Activation failed. The following error was reported: There was no endpoint listening

The remote server returned an unexpected response: (417). Expectation failed.

Resolution

To resolve this issue, you need to open access to the following:

  • http://selfservice.cloudapp.net/WebServer.svc  (on port 80)
  • https://activation.jetreports.com  (on port 443)

For the last error (417) you will need to disable any proxy settings in place via Internet Explorer.

If you cannot grant access to the above, registered users can contact our Technical Support Team through our Support Site.
