Design Mode Calculations

As you build your reports, you need to be aware that some functions return different values in Design Mode than in Report Mode

In Design Mode ...

the first record that matches the filter is returned.

In Report Mode...

If (like in the example above) a function requires a sort, the first record based on the sort is returned (when in Design Mode).  This makes design mode calculations faster while still generating accurate reports, when run.
