Error 183: Cannot create a file when that file already exists?

This information applies to Dynamics NAV 2009R2 and earlier.

Symptom

You receive the error when setting up a new connection to a database, or when using an existing connection.

Error 183: Cannot create a file when that file already exists?

Cause:

This error occurs when you are using the "Navision-Local" datasource type and the NAV client application (and database) is already open.

Resolution

Closing the NAV Client should resolve this issue.
