Install Jet Service Tier on Azure
Azure installation is an advanced topic and should only be attempted by administrators familiar with Azure and its underlying structures.
Overview
The Jet Configuration Service is part of the Jet Service Tier which is capable of being installed on a wide variety of SQL databases and Operating systems - including SQL Server 2012 and 2012 R2.
Azure SQL - while *similar* to SQL Server 2012 - is *not identical* to SQL Server 2012 and is not directly compatible with all versions of the installer for the Service Tier.
Starting with Jet 20.3 the Jet installer supports the automatic creation of an Azure SQL database when the server specified in the installer is an Azure SQL Server.
Installation Instructions
When specifying the SQL Server during the Jet installation process, if an Azure SQL Server is specified (ending in database.windows.net) the installer will detect this and require that Database Authentication is used as shown in th screenshot below. These credentials will be used to create and provision the Azure SQL database as part of the installation process.
Legacy Installation Instructions
For customers using a version of Jet Reports prior to 20.3 the instructions below will walk through the process of creating the Azure SQL database manually.
The Jet Service Tier installation files are included with the installation files for Jet Reports.
For those Service Tier installations requiring special Azure configuration steps, specific instructions for installing on Azure are also included.
Please refer to the READ_ME_FIRST.TXT file located in the Azure configuration files folder for instructions on configuring the Azure portal.
