Microsoft Visual Basic Error (Blank)
Symptom
While using the Jet Excel add-in with Excel 2007, you receive a Microsoft Visual Basic error dialog box that is blank.
when:
- opening a new Excel Workbook
- selecting another option from the Office Button in Excel 2007
- choosing "Customize" from the Excel Options menu.
Cause
This is a known issue when using Excel 2007 with add-Ins which have their own ribbon (e.g. Jet Reports). Excel will display a blank Visual Basic error dialog box when a new window is opened at the same time that Excel is trying to update the ribbon in the background.
Resolution
Select OK on the error, and a new workbook will open without further problems. You may be prompted to click OK more than once.
A possible workaround to avoid this error is to make sure the Jet Reports ribbon is not active when selecting a menu item from the Office Button. Adding frequently used menu options to the Quick Access Toolbar may also help avoid this error message.
