Jet Online Add-In Overview
With the Jet Online add-in, you can use Excel online to design and run reports for Jet. Before Jet Online was introduced, you couldn't change data or rerun a report if it was opened in Excel online. If you, for example, received an email with a report, you needed to download the file to your device, change the data, and rerun the report locally. With Jet Online extension, you can change the data online and rerun the report without downloading the file to your PC. You can quickly share the report with other users. In contrast to Jet Reports, Jet Online is available to macOS users, which increases the extension accessibility.
Jet Online Setup Prerequisites
To use Jet Online, you need to:
be an existing Jet Reports customer.
have an active Jet Reports subscription.
have access to Platform and Reports Center.
Jet Online Setup
You can download Jet Online from Microsoft AppSource. After downloading and installing the add-in, it is available in your Excel sheet. You can see the Jet Online tab on the top ribbon.
To be able to use Jet Online, you need to log in to the Platform by following the below steps:
Navigate to Jet Online > User Profile. The Account Session pane opens.
Click the Log in to Platform button. The Login modal appears.
Use your Platform or Reports Center credentials to log in.
You have successfully logged in to the Platform. Continue the Jet Online setup by following the below steps:
Navigate to Jet Online > Settings. The Settings pane opens.

In the Settings pane, you need to select values for the following settings:
Data Source: Select one from the data sources already configured in your organization's Reports Center.
Company: Companies available from the selected Business Central Cloud data source.
After selecting the values for both options, click Save.
Note: The add-in only works with Business Central Cloud data sources that have been configured in Jet's Reports Center. Reports Center is Jet's cloud platform for uploading, executing, and managing reports. The Jet Online Add-in depends on this platform to handle cloud-based report runs and retrieve completed results.
Jet Online Features
The following items are available under Jet Online tab on the top ribbon:
- User Profile - Opens the task pane showing the signed-in user's profile and account details. Allows the user to sign out or switch environments if applicable.
- Design - Activates design mode for the current report. Enables users to insert or modify Jet formulas (for example NL) used to build Jet Reports.
- Run - Switches the report to run mode and uploads the current workbook to Jet cloud service for asynchronous execution. Once processed, a status update is shown on the Report Status page, where users can open or download the resulting report.
- Drilldown - Allows users to drill into a specific value (Excel cell) within a Jet Report. This opens a URL in Business Central Cloud in a new browser tab, displaying the underlying data behind the selected value.
- Report Status - Opens the Report Status page, where users can view the progress and results of previously submitted reports.
- Access Reports Center - Opens the Jet Reports Center web application in a browser. From there, users can browse, manage, and schedule reports in the cloud.
- Upload to Reports Center - Uploads the currently open report to Jet cloud, so it can be scheduled, shared, or executed later via the Reports Center.
- Function Wizard - Launches a step-by-step UI in the task pane to help users create Jet formulas without needing to write them manually.
- Settings - Opens the add-in's settings panel in the task pane. From here, users can select their data source and company.
- Help - Opens a new browser tab with the Jet Reports documentation page.
Jet Online Behavior
- Report results aren't written into the active workbook; instead, completed reports are accessed as separate downloadable Excel files via the Report Status page.
- After execution, users receive a status update on the Report Status page.
- Completed reports can be opened in a new browser tab or downloaded as Excel files.
- Drilldown results open in a new browser tab and display underlying data directly from Business Central Cloud.
- In Design Mode, Jet functions appear as formulas and placeholder values that help users build reports. This mode is optimized for speed but not guaranteed to show accurate data; run the report to view full results.
