Resolving Data Sources.xml is corrupt Error in Jet Reports

Issue

When launching Excel with Jet Reports, you may encounter the following error:

The Jet settings file C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\Jet Reports\Data Sources.xml is corrupt.

The following error was reported:

This error typically indicates that the Data Sources.xml file used by Jet Reports has become corrupted and needs to be recreated.

Resolution Steps

  1. Close Excel.
  2. Open Windows File Explorer.
  3. Enter %appdata% in the address bar and click enter on the keyboard. This brings you to

    C:\Users\<YourUsername>\AppData\Roaming\

  4. Open the Jet Reports folder and delete the Data Sources.xml file.
  5. Open Excel.
  6. Go to Jet > Settings > Data Source Settings and recreate your data source(s) or export them from another user and import them locally.
  7. If you export or import from another user and are using a Dynamics 365 Business Central (Web

    Services) public cloud data source then make sure to re-authenticate your account in the Authentication tab afterwards.

Additional Notes

  • If you're unsure how to export or import data sources from another user, refer to Jet Reports documentation or contact your system administrator.
  • Always back up your settings before making changes.
